The Jamaat-e-Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, has condemned the 'Kidnapping' of Ajmal Waheed and Osama Waheed by the agencies and demanded their immediate release. He said that the agencies thought themselves above the law and were openly ridiculing the court orders by violating human rights.
This was why there was lawlessness and chaos right from Balochistan to FATA and up to Karachi. He appealed to the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take suo motu notice of the matter.
The JI chief said that Osama Waheed along with some others had been acquitted by the court but when his brother Ajmal Waheed reached Udiala jail to greet them, Ajmal Waheed, Osama Waheed and other arrested people were made to disappear. Their aged parents and relatives were genuinely worried about them. Ajmal's wife had tried to get an FIR registered about the abduction and also contacted the CPLC chief, but no body came to her rescue.
He said, if the security agencies tried to establish jungle law in the country, it would create distances between the armed forces and the people, as would be disastrous for the country's solidarity and unity.
The agencies, he said, had not learnt from the Kharotabad and Karachi incidents and extra judicial activities had become their culture. The Supreme Court directives and the complaints of the parliament, the masses and the human rights bodies had no importance for the agencies.
Syed Munawar Hasan said the agencies were up against their own countrymen but were unmindful of their basic duty of country's defence. The Abbotabad operation, the Mehran airbase attack and the attacks on security agency offices exposed their working.
In the present situation, he said, when the US and the western powers were maligning the Pakistan armed forces and agencies, the agencies should refrain from such activities.
