KESC condemns attacks on GM, HT Jointer

Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has condemned the murderous attacks on GM of IBC Johar and an EHT Jointer in Saddar area by union miscreants on Saturday afternoon. The GM and his sons narrowly escaped unhurt in the attack but the jointer was seriously injured with knives.
The jointer, Irshad, was kidnapped by the attackers who introduced themselves as KESC union activists and ordered him to stop working on a high tension joint near YMCA hostel in Saddar area at dagger point. His last message to the management was that the attackers had wanted to take him to some place in Keamari. He was later found in very bad condition, carrying several knife injuries on his body. He was admitted to Liaquat National Hospital where his condition is said to be precarious.
A group of union miscreants attacked the General Manger of IBC Gulistan-e-Johar, Ali Akbar Baloch, and his sons at his residence Friday evening while they were proceeding to the nearby mosque for Maghreb prayers. The GM and his sons narrowly escaped the attempt to murder as the culprits were forced to escape by the local residents. The people of the locality expressed great surprise over the insecure and rather scary environment in which the dutiful and fearless employees of the KESC had been forced to perform their public service responsibilities and demanded of the government to provide due protection to the utility's functioning in the public interest.
The KESC has expressed great concern over the increasing attacks on repair teams by union miscreants saying that it was second time that the same jointer had been attacked by union hooligans. The KESC has also expressed distress over the government's failure in providing due protection to KESC's employees, offices and installations ordered by Sindh High Court on June 23. The KESC said that government had also fallen short of establishing the writ of law and providing constitutional and legal right to the private entity to function and operate in safe and secure manner.
The KESC believes that the criminal negligence of the civil authorities and law enforcement agencies in their constitutional and legal task had rendered the whole population of Karachi helpless and miserable at the hands of a few hundred union miscreants who had been escalating their sabotage attack right up to the residences of the utility's employees. The KESC demanded immediate action on High Court orders and said that the government needs to perform its duties to provide safety to the KESC employees as citizens granted to them in the constitution and laws of the country.-PR
