PPP-led Government has won the battles against terrorists with the active support of the people and time is not far when every terrorist will be flushed out of Pakistan, said Rehman Malik, Federal Minister for Interior said here on Wednesday.
The government is winning battles within the country and with the help of nation and with the support of our people and the country will soon attain the economic stability, Malik said speaking at a seminar on Community Policing organised by Islamabad Police to highlight the role of community policing in maintaining the law and order situation in the country.
Senator Dr Baber Awan, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Wajid Ali Durrani, DIG Operations Bani Amin Khan and SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan also addressed the seminar and highlighted the government policy to introduce the community policing to resolve the problems.
Minister for Interior said that Taliban were only 50 kilometers away from the capital city of Islamabad at the time of martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto. But after assuming power PPP government made all efforts to eliminate terrorism. PPP Government had improved the overall situation in the country after Bhutto's death, Malik said, adding that it will continue to lead the country towards socio economic development.
Malik praised the Islamabad Police's initiative to introduce community-policing saying that it will help resolve various problems and help eradicate crime and terrorism He also announced the establishment of Elite Force Unit in Islamabad saying that Capital Police is running short of strength and very shortly recruitment will be started in the Capital Police to make it more vibrant and effective.
Malik also announced re-launch of old Guarding (Chaukidari) System and fresh recruitments in Islamabad Police. Addressing the Seminar, Babar Awan urged the nation not to pay any heed to the western propaganda. Pakistan's assets are not a cake or chocolate, he remarked. "We will not respond to any false propaganda," he added. The former law minister said that the seventh naval ship would not come to rescue us and we have to safeguard our country.
IGP Islamabad highlighted the features of the community policing saying that the new system has not only introduced a soft and people friendly policing, but has given a role to people to ensure safety, security and maintenance of law and order in their respective areas. He said with this new initiative Islamabad Police have succeeded in making decline in crime rate in the Federal Capital.
