A one-year calligraphy course for young and budding artist will start here from June 6 to promote and preserve Muslim heritage for the coming generations. Calligraphy is a unique art, which needs to be preserved and revived, so, National Language Authority (NLA) is initiating this traditional training for youngsters.
The one-year course titled 'Learn Calligraphy' is being launched after successful completion of a three-month Urdu calligraphy course in the first phase.
NLA Secretary, Sarfraz Tariq told APP that students will learn 'Khat-e-Nastaleeq' and 'Khat-e-Naskh' during the course. He said," Since Urdu is a vast language and calligraphy is a cultural heritage of Muslims so the authority has planned to start the course to raise awareness among the younger generation about the heritage enabling them to transfer it to the next generations".
NLA will also arrange a one-hour class for working class to facilitate them so that they can participate in the course during office hours.
The students can also complete this course during summer vacation. After completion of the course, certificates will be awarded to the participants, Tariq said. Those who are interested can contact the National Language Authority, Pitras Bukhari Road, Islamabad and on phone number 051-925011-13.
