PICT is an ISO 14001 certified company and is fully committed to serve its valued customers while complying with all the applicable environmental rules and regulations. PICT has its own Environmental Policy which includes prevention programs for pollution as well.
PICT has a proper system to perform Environmental Impact Assessments on regular basis. At the same time, necessary environmental monitoring such as Emission Testing of Terminal Equipment, Effluent Testing, etc, is also being performed on set intervals. PICT has installed the second Sewerage Treatment Plant to accommodate the environmental requirements of its new expansions at the terminal. On the other hand, disposal of waste is carried out through an Authorised Waste Contractor according to the requirements.
Whereas, Spill Drills are also being performed regularly.
In addition, PICT has inducted new electrically operated Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) Cranes to reduce fuel consumption and ultimately emissions. Whereas, the conversion project of old diesel operated RTGs into electrically operated RTGs is under way.
PICT encourages plantation and is also looking forward to have more greenbelts within the premises of the terminal. In short, PICT is highly committed to work in a way that preserves the quality of environment and hence, continuously makes efforts to ensure as well as enhance the environmental compliance level within the terminal at all times.
