Creating a rift between army and politicians

This headline appeared in newspapers. "No evidence that Pakistan leaders knew where OBL was: US". 'Pakistan leaders' means political leaders. If we read in between the lines, it looks as if the Americans are telling us that the Pak army knew about the whereabouts of OBL. Would it be right to say that America is trying to widen the gap between the political leadership and the army hierarchy created after May 2nd action in Abbottabad.
This propaganda has already started gaining strength in the print and electronic media. The rift could be disastrous for the integrity of the country.
