The concept of community policing adopted by Islamabad Police has started paying dividends as Capital Police during the current week have busted 19 gangs of criminals involved in car snatching, drug pushing, robbery, bootlegging, possession of illegal arms and prostitution.
During the week Federal Capital remained on security high alert due to terror strikes in other parts of the country and for budget session, but even then more than 112 incidents of street crime, theft and robbery, car snatching and other crimes were recorded in the Capital during the week.
Business Recorder have obtained data from all circles and police stations of the capital, revealed that people were deprived of 18 vehicles during the week, while in street crimes, theft and robbery, people were deprived of their valuables including cash, gold ornaments, computers, laptops and other essential commodities valuing over Rs 15 million.
Capital Police have detained 152 accused including 25 women during the week for their alleged involvement in car snatching, robbery, street crimes, theft, bootlegging, prostitution, drug pushing and possession of illegal arms. During this week police have recovered arms and ammunition including three Kalashnikov assault rifles, two guns 12-bore, 28 pistols, three daggers and over 500 bullets of different caliber.
