Faisalabad Development Trust (FDT) has undertaken a number of development schemes, entailing a cost of rupees 20 million, while another project to give free Sehri and Iftari in three local hospitals (Allied Hospital, DHQ Hospital and Mian Muhammad Trust Hospital) is at the anvil, said Mian Muhammad Tayyab, Chairman FDT.
Chairing a meeting of the trust here Friday, he said that industrialists are contributing their role in the overall development of the city. The FDT has decided to offer Ramzan Package and under this package, it will provide free food during Sehri and Iftari at major local hospitals and public places.
He further said that the Trust is working on a plan to open shops in Allied, DHQ and Mian Muhammad Trust hospitals to provide free medicines to needy patients. It has also decided to hire 10 to 12 vehicles on permanent basis, which would be used to carry the dead bodies for burial. He also said that the trust has been working on an education project to bear the expenses of fees and education of poor and deserving students. He added that for this purpose, philanthropists and well-off persons would be convinced to provide funds form their Zakat.
Tayyab said that a beautification project for general bus stand has been accomplished, while protective walls and sitting huts have also been constructed on both sides of Jhang Road from fruit and vegetable market up-to the airport. He informed that rupees 70 million have been spent on the construction of FDT Headquarter in commissioner complex, while 30 houses are under construction in chak No 8 Sargodha Road by the Trust.
On the proposal of trustees Ahmed Shafi and Abid Kamal, the Trust decided to set-up Zakat fund to undertake various welfare projects. Chairman FDT said that local industrialists and businessmen would be requested to channelize their Zakat through this fund. On the recommendation of Syed Omer Nazar Shah, the Trust also decided to start "Green Faisalabad" campaign. Under this campaign, students would be encouraged to plant saplings and ornamental plants in their schools and greenbelts of the city.
He said that a 10-member Executive Committee would also be constituted to inform people about the development project initiated by FDT in their area. The meeting was also attended by Syed Omer Nazar Shah, Chief of Industrial-Police Liaison Committee, Vice Chairman of Trust Mian Shaiq Javed, Trustee Nazim Shahzad, Abid Kamal and Ahmed Shafi.
