Huge quantity of non-duty paid cigarettes seized

Directorate, Intelligence & Investigation FBR seized huge quantity of non-duty /tax paid cigarettes worth Rs 39, 75,450 here on Thursday. A spokesman of the Directorate said that DG, I& I Islamabad had provided specific information that a huge quantity of non-duty / tax paid cigarettes manufactured by un- registered unit located in Bara Peshawar was being transported to Lahore through a trailer.
In pursuance of said information, the Anti Smuggling staff of the Lahore Directorate seized 2,55,000 packets of "enjoy international" brand cigarettes made by Gulson Tobacco Co. Pakistan along with the trailer. The spokesman said the occupants of the truck did not produce any documentary evidence regarding payment of Federal excise duty and taxes. The department is holding further investigation in the case.
