Three bankers go missing

Three bankers, including Additional Director, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), went missing since Monday night in Port Qasim area while they were their way back home. According to police, Najm-ul-Saqib Shabir, Head of Pakistan Remittances Initiative (PRI), and Additional Director SBP, Nadeem Bhurgari, Manager Marketing PRI, and Asif Shazad, Senior Executive Vice President of United Bank, went missing since 9.40 pm in the Bin Qasim police limits, when they were coming back home after having dinner, from Country Club.
They were travelling in a car number ANZ 742 which, police said, had been found in bushes in Steel Town, from main National Highway. An FIR, number 112/2011, has been lodged by Atif, brother of Najm-ul-Saqib, with Port Qasim Police Station and CPLC has also been informed about the officials' missing. The case has been referred to Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) for legal action and it has started investigation regarding missing of three bankers.
Najm-ul-Saqib Shabir was the additional director SBP and Nadeem Bhurgari were representing ministry of finance with PRI department at SBP, while Asif Shahzad also belongs to remittances department of UBL. State Bank of Pakistan confirmed to Business Recorder that three bankers had been missing since Monday night. It said it was in contact with missing officials' families, who had not yet received any call or any other information since the incidents.
"We are investigating the case from different angles and in initial investigation it seems a kidnapping case", a police official said. Investigation has been initiated. However, it is early to say what might have happened. With the missing of the three bankers, widespread panic has hit banking sector.
