US Embassy in Islamabad and ISAF categorically denied any cross border raid by Nato forces, as it was reported that Nato forces intruded into Pakistan on Monday to conduct operation against Pakistani Taliban leaders. As per the reports, two Nato choppers entered in Pakistan's airspace to hunt militants in border area of North Waziristan Agency.
The report said the helicopters entered the border area and five members of Haqqani network were arrested in the search operation. However, US Embassy in Islamabad issued a denial but ISPR did not issue any press release to media. North Waziristan has been the primary focus of CIA, where it carries out the drone attacks to kill al Qaeda and Taliban militants.
More than 4,410 people have been killed across Pakistan in attacks blamed on Taliban and other extremist groups based in the tribal belt. Pakistan has always maintained that any operation in North Waziristan would be of its own time and choice, arguing that its 140,000 troops committed to the north-west are already overstretched fighting militants who were source of threat domestically.
But the largest political party of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Awami National Party (ANP), supported military army in North Waziristan. Senior Vice President ANP Haji Adeel told Business Recorder that his party would support of any military operation to be conducted against the militants in any part of province including North Waziristan. Government must hunt down terrorists who are hiding in any part of the country, Adeel added.
