Visit of field officers to FBR House banned: written permission a must

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has imposed a ban on the visit of field officers to the FBR House without prior written permission of their heads in the field formations. It is learnt on Monday that the FBR has issued a general circular in this regard.
The FBR will initiate disciplinary action under Civil Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973 against the tax officials, who would try to visit the Board without the permission of their controlling officers. According to the circular, it has come to the notice of the Board that field officers often visit the FBR (HQ), Islamabad in connection with their personal matters such as posting/ transfer, leave, promotion, discipline, reward etc. Most of the time such officers do not have the requisite authorization from their controlling authorities to visit the FBR (HQ).
It is, therefore, reiterated that all officers and officials who seek to visit the FBR in personal matters must invariably seek prior written permission from their controlling officers. Any officer or official who will visit the FBR (HQ) in contravention of the aforesaid instructions will be liable to disciplinary action under Civil Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973, and may also be denied entry at the FBR (HQ) Reception Desk. This circular has been issued with the approval of the Competent Authority, the FBR added.
