Transporters fleece commuters: all Multan region CNG stations closed for two days
All CNG stations have been closed for two days--Monday and Tuesday) in Multan region under gas load management schedule, South Punjab News reported. The CNG pumps have been closed for 48 hours from Monday morning and would reopen at 6 am on Wednesday. Areas affected by the CNG stations' closure are Khanewal, Vihari, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Rajanpur and Chichawatni.
Owing to closure of CNG pumps, citizens are facing severe problems as transporters are overcharging the commuters. Transporters increased the fare, for two days, by 20 percent. Reports of scuffles between passengers and transport staff were received here from different parts of southern Punjab on the issue of inflated fares. Passengers said that transporters were fleecing the commuters with both hands. Whenever the government revises POL prices they increase the fare pretending that they were using high speed diesel, and during two days weekly off of CNG station, they increase the fare saying that gas is not available.
