Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that if love and affection with the country, and establishing supremacy of law and developing indigenous resources is a crime, they would keep committing that crime. He pointed out that Pakistan was achieved after numerous sacrifices just for the purpose that it might be made an Islamic welfare state in true sense where everyone enjoyed equal rights.
"But today, the outsiders are hell-bent on snatching our freedom and subjugating us while our dignity and honour is being marred in lieu of just a few coins", he deplored. He said that lakhs of people laid down their lives to get freedom in 1947 and today as well, over 40,000 army jawans, officers, security officials and civilians have been martyred.
Shahbaz reiterated that government has decided to renounce foreign aid. He announced that Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, himself and Pakistan Muslim League-N have made the pledge that they might lose their lives but would never accept foreign aid that might usurp their freedom and mar their dignity and honour. He said that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) had taught the Muslims to live with dignity and honour 1,400 years back, and by following this, the country could not achieve a dignified status rather it could be made to develop and flourish by following the "Uswa-e-Hasna".
According to a news of DGPR received here Saturday, Punjab chief minister was speaking at a function held in connection with giving away gold medals among Pakistan Movement workers and their heirs at Aiwan-e-Karkunan-e-Tehrik-e-Pakistan, here Saturday.
Shahbaz said that he is extremely pleased in giving away gold medals to those great heroes of Pakistan and their heirs who strove hard for acquisition of a separate homeland under the wise leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He expressed satisfaction that just because of their sacrifices, the nation is breathing in an independent atmosphere.
The chief minister pointed out that it is a reality and the history corroborated the same that nations making stringent decisions turn out to be victorious and get well-deserved place among the comity of nations. The nation would have to think it as well today that how long would they remain prostrated before the outsiders having accepted their charity, and would continue to bargain their freedom.
He expressed lamentation that the outsiders are not holding them in esteem despite sacrifices while a message is being given to them following the Abbotabad incident that the Pakistanis are not friends to them but rather a puppet state. He said it is high time to break down the shackles of slavery and learn to lead a dignified life. He said that the enemies want to destroy our solidarity and control our airspace. He also said the nation would have to stand up for its freedom and prove to be a rock for foiling the nefarious designs of others.
