Taiwan stocks down

Taiwan stocks ended lower for a third consecutive session on Tuesday, down 0.31 percent, with glass and ceramics counters the biggest losers, plunging over 6 percent. The main TAIEX index was down 27.62 points at 8,884.09, after opening flat. Masterlink Investment Advisory vice president Tom Tang said a low trading volume showed that investors were in a "wait and see" mood, lacking confidence in a global market that is turning sour.
Electronics shares and financial shares slipped 0.58 percent and 0.17 percent respectively. The oil-related sub-index was the top gainer, rising 1.17 percent, with Formosa Petrochemical bouncing 1.22 percent from a two-session decline after a fire at its Taiwan plant last week.
