Federal Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar has assured the independent power producers (IPPs) that their issues would be resolved on priority. Presiding over a meeting of Advisory Council of independent power producers held here on Monday he said that the government was taking all possible measures to enhance power generation and matters relating to IPPs, like circular debt, tariff determination, and allocation of gas would be resolved.
He said that the government would also consider regulatory matters of IPPs and National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra. The Minister also asked the IPPs to ensure full capacity of generation in order to produce maximum electricity to meet the requirement in the summer season. The meeting was attended by officials of Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco), Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) and chief executive officers of IPPs.
