We have heard a lot about PTV dramas but did anyone hear about PTA drama? Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has published an advertisement in different newspapers of Pakistan asking the mobile phone SIM subscribers to get their phone numbers verified or else their SIMs will be blocked by 17th May 2011.
I have four post-paid connections, which are in my family's use. I sent my CNIC number on 668 as instructed by PTA and was shocked by the reply I received from PTA. According to their record, only one post-paid connection is registered with them. I then contacted the relevant mobile company for confirmation and the company confirmed that they have four post-paid connections in my name.
Our Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik is threatening the citizens of Pakistan that he will have all those SIMs blocked whose registration is not in order. I want to ask Rehman Malik what kind of incomplete data is PTA holding? How can PTA or Rehman Malik block my SIM card if the PTA data shows only one connection in my name. PTA is least bothered to update its data and Rehman Malik is asking the citizens of Pakistan for help in larger national security interest. PTA drama - Isn't it?
