Aashiyana Housing project to be extended to other cities

Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif has said Aashiyana housing project in Lahore for the low-income people would be extended to the whole province under a phased programme. The chief minister visited under-construction Aashiyana housing project at Saroba Attari on Monday and expressed his satisfaction over the pace of work.
Members Provincial Assembly, Secretary Communication and Works, Commissioner Lahore and senior officers of the departments concerned were also present. Chairman Punjab Land Development Company Sheikh Alauddin gave a detailed briefing regarding the project.
Shahbaz said credit for launching Aashiyana housing project for the low-income people went to Pakistan Muslim League-N which has realised the dream of the widows, orphans and the poor to have their own house.
He said no compromise would be made on the standard of construction work and he would personally supervise the project for the poor and the common man. Expressing his satisfaction over the design and standard of the houses in the first Aashiyana housing scheme, he directed that the pace of construction should be further accelerated so that the houses could be handed over to the deserving persons at the earliest.
He said it was the first time in the history of Pakistan that such a housing project with modern residential facilities had been launched for the poor. He said that basic amenities at par with the housing societies of the elite would be available in Aashiyana housing schemes. He said that Aashiyana housing scheme was an important step towards giving a practical shape to the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
