Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Geelani has said that the campaign against illegal detentions of innocent Kashmiris will continue till they are released and arrest spree is stopped. According to Kashmir Media Service, Geelani in a statement here thanked the people of the occupied territory for observing complete shutdown on Saturday against the unlawful detentions. "Our movement is purely peaceful.
When we use the word peaceful it means peaceful without any ambiguity, political gimmick or deceit", he remarked. He averred that the talks between India and Pakistan would be a meaningless exercise and atmosphere could not become conducive for any political process unless all Kashmiri political detainees are released. "By putting people behind bars for their political ideology, India is contradicting its own claims of democracy", he said.
The veteran Hurriyet leader appealed Amnesty International, Asia Watch and International Red Cross to take serious note of the plight of Kashmiri detainees and exert pressure on India for their release.
