Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif has said the dream of progress and development of the country cannot be materialised without promotion of education. The chief minister further said that the government launched the project of Daanish Schools for providing quality education to the poor children of backward areas.
According to information of DGPR received here on Friday, he was talking to assembly members of various districts. The elected representatives informed the chief minister about the pace of implementation of development projects in their respective areas as well as development priorities for the next budget. Talking to the parliamentarians, the chief minister said that the aim of rapid progress could not be achieved without promotion of education and through equipping the young generation with modern education, the country could be put on the road to development and prosperity.
He said that the Punjab government has adopted a comprehensive strategy for the promotion of quality education in the province and the establishment of Daanish schools in backward areas will result in modern academic facilities to the students of these regions.
He said that six Daanish schools have started functioning in Bahawalpur division while Daanish school project is being speedily implemented in Dera Ghazi Khan, Attock, Mianwali and Rajanpur. He said that besides free education, free boarding and lodging facilities are also being provided to
the students of Daanish schools. He said that just as poor boy and girl students are denied admission in prestigious educational institutions of the country, similarly children of the rich would not be enrolled in Daanish schools as these are meant only for the poor students. He said that establishment of Daanish schools will help eliminate extremism and poverty as well as social disparity. He said that elected representatives should ensure timely and transparent completion of development projects in their respective areas so that people could get benefits as early as possible. Those who met with the chief minister included Jamil Ashraf and Abdul Waheed Chaudhary.
