Taiwan stocks ended little changed on Wednesday, consolidating recent gains that have made some shares expensive and ahead of an expected slowdown in sales growth at top technology companies. The main TAIEX index closed down 2.88 points at 9,020.40. The electronics sub-index slipped 0.13 percent, although Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd jumped 1.4 percent after posting April sales that outperformed its rivals.
PC vendor Acer Inc shed as much as 0.75 percent before ending down 0.19 percent after reporting a fall in April sales. Foreign investors were net buyers of Taiwan shares on Tuesday. Wednesday figures will be released later in the day.
