Parliamentary Secretary for Interior Roy Ghulam Mujtaba Kharal on Wednesday said that Lahore Police had recovered 68 children from illegal custody of a fake NGO. He said this while replying to calling attention notice in the National Assembly. He said as many as 12 persons have been arrested for abducting these kids for ransom.
He said that a joint investigation team comprising Chief City Police Officer Lahore, senior officers of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) was constituted to probe into the incident and the report would be presented in the House. He said the children have been handed over to the Child Protection Bureau and are being reunited to their parents. He said that such kind of incident has surfaced for the first time in the history of the country in which children were abducted by an NGO for ransom.
