Islamabad Police under a new crime elimination plan will launch a massive crackdown against drug pushers, gamblers and those involved in immoral activities to restore peace, said Senior Superintendent of Police Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan here on Wednesday.
"Policing is a service-oriented job and every police official must serve humanity with complete devotion to eliminate crime from the society", the SSP said while reviewing the performance of various police circles of the Capital. Khan issued special instructions to all Circle in-charges (Superintendents of Police) Sub-Division Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) to use all means to curb anti-social activities.
The SSP appreciated the performance of Criminal Investigation Agency Islamabad police to arrest drug pushers and gamblers. However, he also decided to make the relevant SHOs accountable, as why they remained unaware of anti-social elements in their areas.Tahir Alam Khan also decided to issue show cause notices in future to the SHOs in case of negligence. He also ordered issuance of show cause notices to beat officers of Shehzad town and Sabzi Mandi police stations.
The SSP has directed all police officials performing duties at police stations to improve their performance and address the grievances of masses on merit to win the confidence and support of the people. Tahir Alam Khan said that FIRs must be registered at police stations on merit and without any delay and inconvenience. He also directed police officials for strict monitoring of sluggish and corrupt cops and informs high ups for their involvement in such activities.
He said that members of security and vigilance committees should be made more active to ensure effective policing and action must be taken against anti-social elements. Tahir Alam Khan said that investigation of cases must be made on merit and no delay in this process would be tolerated.
The SSP Islamabad also directed all the SHOs to ensure registration of cases in their respective police stations and take strict action against those involved in false registration of cases. He said if anyone found involved in delaying registration of the genuine cases would not be spared. "The purpose of these steps is to strengthen relations between police and community and inculcate friendly police ecology in Capital through co-operation of the people," he maintained.
He also directed SPs of all Zones to personally pursue the progress on complaints and ensure immediate solution of the people problems by remaining personally in touch with them. The SSP said that Islamabad Police is determined to protect lives and property of the citizens and no stone will be left unturned in this regard.
