Two persons including a lady police constable were killed and nine other injured in a bomb explosion outside the entrance of the district courts in Nowshera. The lady police constable has been identified as Shazia while the name of the second victim could not be ascertained. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Talking to media, District Police Officer (DPO) Nowshera, Quresh Khattak termed it a bomb attack that claimed the lives of the two persons. He said that out of the injured four were police personnel. According to bomb disposal squad (BDS), at least one kilogram explosive was used in the explosion.
The explosion was so powerful that its bang was heard several kilometres by the residents of the people of different areas. The police, soon after the incident, rushed to site and started search operation. Khyber Pakthunkhwa Environment minister Wajid Ali Khan has strongly condemned bomb attack and termed it cowardice act of terrorism.
In a statement here, he said, such coward acts of terrorism could not deter us from our determination of battle against terrorism, saying elements involved in the cowardice act would not go unmasked. He directed the hospital administration to provide best medical facilities to the wounded. He prayed Allah Almighty to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage to members of the bereaved families to bear this loss with patience and fortitude.
