Major General R M D Ratanayake, Chief of Staff Sri Lankan Army along with an official delegation visited the provincial metropolis on the second leg of his official tour of Pakistan. He started his day with a visit to the Corps Headquarters, where he met Commander Lahore Corps, Lieutenant General Rashad Mahmood. He remained with him for sometime and exchanged views on matters of professional interest.
Later, the distinguished guest and members of his entourage visited Badshahi Mosque and Lahore Fort. The delegates were apprised about the historical background of the grand mosque constructed in the 17th century AD under the patronage of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir. At the Lahore Fort the distinguished guests went round Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas and Sheesh Mahal.
They evinced keen interest in architectural finesse of this Mughal monument and were marveled by its grandeur. In the evening, the Sri Lankan delegation visited Pakistan-India Border at Wahga. The Senior Officers of Rangers briefed them on joint check post Wagha; they also witnessed the flag lowering ceremony.
