LSE index up 33.11 points

Equities moved both the ways on the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) but finally settled in a positive column amid ascending transaction volume on Monday. The LSE-25 index moved up to 3221.92 points against 3188.81 points of Friday, showing an increment of 33.11 points, while transaction volume marginally increased to 02.630 million shares, as compared to previous volume of 02.238 million shares.
According to brokers, the market moved in both the ways and finally closed with increment in index on account of buying in selective scrips. They advised the investors to only invest in fundamentally strong shares. PSO, Engro Corporation, Pak Refinery, Pak Oil Fields, PPL, Adamjee Insurance, Dawood Hercules, MCB Bank, Lucky Cement and FFC resisted pressure and closed on positive note while Millat Tractors, OGDC, Bank AlHabib, Treet Corporation, Bank Alfalah, Attock Refinery, D.G. Khan Cement and Lotte Pakistan suffered losses.
The gainers were more than the losers, as out of a total of 116 companies, 45 showed strength and were closed in green zone, 15 suffered losses, while 56 companies stayed unchanged at their previous levels. PSO gained Rs 6.35, Engro Corporation was improved by Rs 5.29, Pak Refinery was appreciated by Rs 4.16, while Pak Oil Fields, PPL, Adamjee Insurance, Dawood Hercules, MCB Bank, Lucky Cement and FFC were up by Rs 3.50, Rs 3.20, Rs 3.16¸ Rs 2.92¸ Rs 2.51¸ Rs 1.70 and Rs 1.54, respectively.
Among losers, Millat Tractors lost Rs 1.30, OGDC was declined by Rs 1.26, Bank AlHabib shed paisa-0.30, while Treet Corporation, Bank Alfalah, Attock Refinery, D.G. Khan Cement and Lotte Pakistan were down by paisa-0.19, paisa-0.17, paisa-0.12, paisa-0.10 and paisa-0.10, respectively. Bank of Punjab was the market leader whose 748,274 shares changed hands followed by Silk Bank Limited with trading of 479,122 shares.
