QPR were confirmed as Championship title-winners on Saturday after the Football Association announced they would not be deducted points following a hearing into their signing of Alejandro Faurlin in 2009. QPR, who clinched the title last weekend, were found guilty of two of the seven charges they faced over the registration of the Argentinian midfielder.
The London club, returning to the top-flight after a 15-year absence, were presented with the Championship trophy after their 2-1 defeat against Leeds United on Saturday. Norwich are the other side to join QPR in being automatically promoted. Rangers didn't completely escape punishment and they were fined £875,000 by the Football Association for breaching two FA rules.
"The club were found to have been in breach of FA Rule E3, and to have also been in breach of FA Football Agents Regulations, A1," read an FA statement. "The commission found that in respect of the breach of FA Rule E3 the club be fined £800,000. In respect of the breach of FA Football Agents Regulations, A1, the club be fined a further £75,000."
After sealing promotion as Championship winners last weekend, QPR had feared a points deduction would strip them of the title and plunge the club into the play-off places. The decision was initially scheduled to be revealed on Friday, but the FA postponed the announcement until the final day of the season when a statement confirmed that no points would be deducted.
