Balochistan lawmakers on Thursday suggested establishment of plants, which would produce electricity from coal. The suggestion was made by provincial Health Minister, Ainullah Shams who said that the province would not only generate a huge sum of revenue but would also rid of power load-shedding which has caused losses of billion of rupees to the growers.
The minister added that a delegation led by Chief Minister Raisani has already discussed the issue with Prime Minister and concerned Federal Ministry. He further said through a joint venture both the provincial and federal government could ensure effective utilisation of coal, which is being produced in huge quantity in various parts of the province.
Earlier, member of the assembly Zahoor Buledi demanded the provincial government to play its role in acquisition of additional electricity from Iran for Makran Division. He said that currently 35 megawatts of electricity is being imported against the solid demand of 65 megawatts. He criticised Qesco authorities for making undue delays in inking another agreement for import of electricity in the area.
Provincial Ministers, Sadiq Umrani, Salim Khosa and Nasir Jamali on the occasion demanded provision of wheat to farmers in Naseerabad, Jaffarabad and Jhal Magsi at reasonable prices, adding that people of these areas had badly suffered due to recent floods. Agha Irfan Karim and Ms Rubina Irfan demanded training facility for female teachers in Kalat. They also demanded fresh appointments in the newly established Labour Facility in the area, saying the personnel deployed had no interest in the area.
To a question regarding Sorenj Coalmine Mishap, Provincial Minister Mines said that enquiry into the matter would be finalised and made public in a couple of days. He added that the labour ministry would compensate relatives of those who lost lives in the incident. Speaker Muhammad Aslam Bhotani adjourned the house till May 7.
