Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday stressed upon the Pakistani expatriates to act as the country's ambassadors and focus on improving their homeland's image abroad. The Prime Minister expressed these views at a reception hosted by Pakistan's ambassador to France Shafkat Saeed at Pakistan Embassy here.
Gilani in an informal interaction apprised the Pakistani community that the democratic government was striving for their well-being and was aware of the challenges being faced by them. He said that the government had facilitated the expatriates for getting Pakistani passports and computerised national identity cards. He said that democracy in the country was paying its dividends and the lifestyle of common man had gradually improved.
He mentioned the government's several achievements, including 18th Amendment, self-autonomy for Gilgit-Baltistan and constitutional reforms and termed them the outcome of democracy. He inquired the Pakistanis working at the embassy about the problems faced by their community and assured them of the government's full support to redress them. Gilani also spoke about his ongoing visit to France and said it would help the two countries to strengthen their bilateral ties.
The Prime Minister's delegation, including Privatisation Minister Syed Naveed Qamar, Advisor to Prime Minister for Minorities Affairs Paul Jacob Bhatti and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, were present. Diplomats of other countries also attended the reception.
