Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General, Liaquat Baloch, has called for a review of the Hajj policy to facilitate the intending pilgrims. In a letter addressed to the Minister for Religious Affairs, he said that the Hajj expenses this year had been increased unjustifiably. He said although the Hajj Ministry had announced abolition of the quota system, the Ministry had retained quota of as many as 13,500 Hajjis, which negated its own claims.
Liaquat Baloch further said that the government had multiplied the Hajjis problems and worries by binding them to arrange 3000 Riyals for meeting the expenditure for food, sacrificial animals and other necessities. He said, the Hajj scandal last year had brought bad name to the country but the authorities did not seem to be making amends for that.
