The Lebanese government's purchasing agency has issued a tender to buy 50,000 tonnes of milling wheat, European traders said on Monday. Some 25,000 tonnes was for arrival by May 30 and 25,000 tonnes was for arrival by June 20. The bid deadline is on Wednesday, May 4.
Lebanon had on April 20 bought 50,000 tonnes of milling wheat of optional US, Canadian or Australian origin in a tender for similar shipping dates. However, the very low price offered made some traders doubt whether delivery was feasible. Lebanon's previous tender was on March 7 when the country bought 15,000 tonnes from the United States and 7,500 tonnes from Moldavia.
