Four held in Manghopir search operation

Sindh Rangers on Saturday claimed to have arrested four suspects during search operation in Manghopir. According to details, the heavy contingents of rangers, female personnel, commandos and police cordoned off the Mangopir area from sector I to sector V at around 3:30am and started door-to-door search from 5:30am, which continued till 11am.
Following the recent bombing on PN buses, which claimed around 9 lives including 8 navy personnel, the Sindh rangers had launched search operation in different areas of metropolis to root out criminal elements and to maintain peace in the city. The first search operation was witnessed on last Friday when the Sindh Rangers imposed partial curfew in Baldia Town and detained 11 persons.
Now the search operation, which was aimed at nabbing the militants, who were hiding at different areas of the city with a view to flare up such terrorist activities in the metropolis in coming days, was launched at Mangopir area. Dozens of police vans, armoured vehicles carrying over 150 personnel of rangers and immense number of police personnel from Mangopir area and others took part in this search operation. All commercial and social activities in these areas remained paralysed during search operation.
Sources said that the rangers after beleaguering the said sectors of Mangopir area, detained around 100 persons and 65 of them were released after initial interrogation. While rest of them, who were blindfolded and their hands were roped on back, were transported to unknown place for further investigation.
However, a spokesman of Sindh rangers, who dispelled to have attained major breakthrough during this operation, confirmed the arrests of four persons and also seized weapons. According to eyewitnesses, two brothers were injured by the rangers during operation. They said the injured namely Khan Bahadur and Khan Islam on suspicion of robbers started aerial firing when the personnel of Sindh rangers jumped over the wall of their house during operation. On retaliation, the personnel of Sindh rangers injured both of them, who were later shifted to hospital for treatment. However, the police said the operation was launched by Pakistan Rangers and the Sindh police had only provided assistance during the said operation.
