From A Ringside Seat: PML-N seems isolated as it loses small/big allies support

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) seems politically isolated at this critical juncture as it has lost support of small/big political allies in and outside the Parliament.
Though, the PML-N had supported and backed small political parties like Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Thereek-e-Insaf (PTI) after general election of 2008, these parties had announced to boycott the elections and they did not participate in it. But after passage of time, these parties shunned their support to PML-N for not playing effective role of Opposition in the Parliament.
Today, we are not seeing any support of JI, JUI-F, PML-Q, PTI and other religion parties in and outside the Parliament to Nawaz League. The PML-N also faced political set back and criticism when it announced to join unification block of PML-Q and expelled the PPP from the Punjab government. Though, PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif did not fully like it but he accepted the decision on the insistence of senior leadership of the party.
These days it is talk of the town that the PML-Q has almost completed negotiations with the PPP to join the government and leadership of both the parties have also decided on seat adjustment to contest forthcoming general elections against PML-N particularly in Punjab.
If on one hand PPP and PML-Q entered into alliance and on the other hand small parties like JI, PTA, JUI and others appeared as coalition partners in coming general election the PML-N may face tough time. Similarly, if the PPP got chance of holding Senate election in March 2012, then total strength of the PPP would become 50-member in the Upper House of the Parliament while 10 to 12 members of PML-N could be elected. So, the PPP could create problems for the next government in the Upper House of the Parliament.
In the last two days sitting of the lower house, the PML-N has changed its tune and gradually resorted to aggressive policy against the government. In Wednesday sitting, for the first time in the last three years, PML-N showed a strong reaction against the government on the issues of national importance like drone attacks, gas and power load shedding, corruption, inflation and Raymond Davis release.
Now, for the first time, the PML-N members chanted slogans "Go Zardari Go, Go Zardari Go. But, in today's sitting, the PML-N targeted Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and seems it would continue in future. Khawaja Saad Rafiq lamented that the Gilani of Adiala jail is markedly different from Prime Minister Gilani of today.
The first ever salvo by a PML-N leader against the mild mannered Yousaf Raza Gilani was hurled by Saad Rafique rather than the fiery Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan. This surprises few as Chaudhary Nisar knows how to have his share of cake and eat it too. But this time, Nisar was not present in the House. Khwaja Saad Rafiq said he did not hope that Gilani would only be Prime Minister of the PPP and had expected he would stop President Zardari if he indulged in any wrongdoing.
He also stated that the Prime Minister has also some members in his team who, were part of Musharraf's team. "I had not expected that those people with you who have no roots in the people will escape the country with briefcases," he said. It seems, now, the Prime Minister has to face criticism of the PML-N. Today, the PML-N gives impression that it would target the Prime Minister instead of President Asif Ali Zardari.
