Soyabean tumbles

US soyabean futures ended lower on Tuesday, pressured by profit-taking and indications of ample soy supply as the harvest nears completion in South America, traders said. CBOT May soyabeans notched their biggest percentage loss in two weeks, falling 6-3/4 cents to $13.82-3/4 a bushel. Soyabeans had risen for three straight sessions before Tuesday's drop.
Traders also debated prospects for a switch in US acreage from corn to soyabeans if corn plantings are further delayed by rain. Wet weather in the US continues to slow spring fieldwork and early crop seedings. Weather is now less of an issue in South America because crops are virtually harvested.
