50 new cricket grounds to be developed in Lahore: Punjab chief minister
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said 50 new cricket grounds will be would be developed in Lahore while separate grounds would be reserved for women. He directed Commissioner Lahore to identify locations for 50 new cricket grounds in Lahore in consultation with elected representatives and submit a comprehensive plan in this regard within seven days.
Inaugurating Model Town Cricket ground here on Monday Shahbaz said that sports are of vital importance for setting up a healthy society and Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive programme for the promotion of sports activities in the province.
The Chief Minister said that provision of a healthy atmosphere to the citizens is among the top priorities of the government. He congratulated the Lahore administration and office-bearers of Lahore Cricket Association for developing an excellent cricket ground in Model Town for providing modern sports facilities to the players. He said that 50 new cricket grounds will be developed in Lahore under public-private partnership and dressing rooms and pavilions will also be constructed for players. The Chief Minister also played cricket at the inauguration of the cricket ground.
