ACCA to hold pre-budget seminar

Encouraging Enterprise - Growth of Business is the theme of ACCA pre-budget discussions for 2011. ACCA is holding a pre-budget seminar on 27 April, 29 April and 5 May in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad respectively. These discussions are aimed to bring policy makers and key stakeholders on a platform to discuss the key recommendations for revival of economy.
ACCA has put together a set of proposals focusing on fiscal policy measures that facilitate growth of businesses. ACCA believes that there can be no sustainable economic recovery unless businesses are hiring again and growing in impressive numbers. ACCA Pakistan proposes that the government through its policies must recognise businesses as worthwhile contributors to building communities and an economically strengthened society.
ACCA budget proposals mainly focus on revenue enhancement from a balanced tax approach with emphasis on direct taxation, reducing the tax compliance burden, streamlining existing anomalies, curbing smuggling, boosting investor confidence, documenting the economy, and facilitating and educating taxpayers - both the existing and potential.
The respected panel of speakers in Lahore include, Asad Feroze, Member Members, Network Panel ACCA Pakistan, Mustafa Ashraf, Chief Commissioner Regional, Tax Office II, Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, Senior Vice-President, Lahore Chamber of Commerce, Dr Salman Shah, CEO, Bridge Asia Financial Services and Aftab Ahmed Chaudhry, Managing Director, Lahore Stock Exchange. While the panel is Karachi includes, Komail Abbas Badami, Member Fair Taxation Sub committee, Asrar Rauf, Additional Secretary Revenue Division, FBR, Ahmed Chinoy, President Memon Federation and Chief of CPLC Karachi and Muzammil Aslam EVP, Chief Economist an Head of Business Development JS Group. In Islamabad, the discussion will be led by Mahfooz Ilahi, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce; Dr Ashfaq Hassan Khan, Principal and Dean NUST Business School, Islamabad; and Ms Ayla Majid, Vice Chairperson Members Network Panel of ACCA. A large number of ACCA members, key employers and representatives from the business and the academia are expected to participate at the seminars.-PR
