Political reforms to bring tribal people into mainstream: Fata parliamentarians meet Zardari

President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday announced that the political reforms in Fata announced on August 14, 2009 would soon be implemented to bring the tribal people into the mainstream of national life. The President made this announcement during his meeting with Fata Parliamentarians at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, which was also attended by Governor Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Syed Masoood Kauser.
The delegation of Fata Parliamentarians included Senator Rashid Ahmed Khan, Senator Abdul Raziq Afridi, Senator Haji Khan Afridi, senator Abbas Khan Afridi, Senator Abdur Rasheed, Senator Maulana M Saleh Shah Qureshi, Senator Mohammad Idrees Khan Safi, and MNAs Munir Khan Orakzai, Malik Bilal Rehman, Sajid Hussain Turi, Jawad Hussain, Mohammad Kamran Khan, Syed Akhonzada Chitan, Muhammad Nooor-ul-Haq Qadri, Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi, Zafar Beg Bhattani and Maulana Abdu Malik Wazir.
Senator A Rehman Malik, Interior Minister, Shaukat Ullah Khan, Minister for Safron, Barrister Syed Masood Kauser, Governor KPK, Ms Farzana Raja, Chairperson BISP, Senator Sardar Ali Khan, Ms Farahnaz Ispahani, MNA, Ms Fouzia Habib, MNA, Habib Ullah Khan, Secretary Safron, Ghhulam Dastageer, Chief Secretary KPK, Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar, Fazal Karim Khattak,additional Chief secretary Fata and other high officials were also present during the meeting.
Briefing the journalists about the meeting, Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said that matters relating to current situation, development of Fata, BISP initiatives in Tribal belt, war against militancy, Fata reforms, drone attacks and other issues of concerns were discussed during the meeting.
The spokesperson said that Fata parliamentarians congratulated the President for the political reforms in Fata and urged him to implement the socio- political reforms very soon which they said that all the legislators of Fata have not only endorsed Fata reforms but they actually participated in its legislation. The President said that Fata reforms would soon be implemented and directed Governor KPK for early implementation of the reforms in consultation with Fata parliamentarians.
Fata Parliamentarians also pointed out that in addition to the reforms announced on August 14, 2009, each Fata agency has its own peculiar features and problems The President directed the Governor KPK to have meetings with representatives of each agency to sort out the issue peculiar to that agency. The President also directed Chairperson BISP for early completion of poverty survey in Fata and also extending all other poverty alleviation's initiatives and schemes under the BISP to the tribal areas and called for taking Fata parliamentarians on board in the whole process.-PR
