KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Senator Sirajul Haq on Wednesday said that declaring Jerusalem as Israeli capital was nothing less than waging a war against Ummah, adding the entire Ummah is united against the nefarious designs of the governments in the United States and Tel Aviv.
While talking to media at the Karachi airport, Siraj said that the role of Muslim leaders, except a few, was extremely below the expectations.
Talking about the 17th December ‘march’ in Karachi, he said that through this ‘million march’, the JI wants to make it clear before the international community and particularly the US and Israel that this step of recognition of Jerusalem will not be accepted and that Muslims will go to any extent against this decision. He was of the view that ‘greater Israel’ project is bound to fail.
About the Islamabad rally on Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) issue, he said that the rulers are the only hurdle in providing due rights to the people of tribal areas. If the government failed to meet our demands by 31st December, we will be marching to Islamabad again, he added. He also expressed concern on the prevailing uncertainty on the country's economic front.
The JI head also reiterated his demand for a judicial inquiry into the amendment in oath of parliamentarians. Later, Siraj met prominent religious scholar Mufti Muneebur Rehman at his residence to discuss the ongoing domestic and international issues.
He also invited the scholar to participate in the ‘million march’ on which Mufti Muneebur Rehman agreed to support the initiative.
