PESHAWAR: Member, Inland Revenue, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Khawar Khurshid on Wednesday said that data of registration and identity cards of Afghan refugees would be collected to bring them into tax net. He was addressing business community here at Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI). The meeting was presided over by the President of SCCI, Usman Bashir Bilour.
Those present on the occasion were Chief Commissioner, Regional Tax Office (RTO) Yusuf Ghaffar, Commissioner Income Tax, Collector Sales Tax, vice president SCCI, Javed Akhtar and executive members, Brigadier (Retd) Abdul Samad, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, Ghulam Sabir Saraf, Abid Salam, Aftab Ahmad, Mohammad Rasan, Ghazanfar Bilour, Nauman Wazir, Zahidullah Shinwari, Mohammad Ishaq, Niaz Ahhmad, Engr Maqsood Anwar Pervez, Manazir Ali Nasir, Faiz Mohammad Faizi, Tufail Gorwara, Waris Khan Afridi, Mohammad Israr and other traders and industrialists.
The FBR Member said that Prime Minister's Relief Package would be implemented in letter and spirit to provide relief to the people and business community of the province affected by terrorism and militancy. He said that FBR would not create any hurdle in the provision of relief under this package.
Khawar said that in future income tax certificate would be issued for a period of one year and added that refund cases of income tax and sales tax would be resolved on priority basis. He said that all available facilities would be provided to business community in this regard.
He assured resolution of some problems and said that FBR and business community would jointly make efforts for increase in the revenue of the country. In his address of welcome, SCCI president demanded reforms in tax system, bringing of Afghan refugees into tax net, removal of hurdles in the implementation of the Prime Minister's Relief Package, early disposal of tax cases, abolition of the tradition of appeals by taxpayers and tax machinery, resolution of refund cases, stoppage of unnecessary audits, organising of seminars for creating awareness amongst the small traders and issuance of national tax numbers and other problems.
