College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) offers specialization in 67 disciplines apart from providing training to more than 90% fellows. President CPSP Professor Zafar Ullah Chaudhry informed journalists that the college would hold joint conference in collaboration with Royal College of London on the occasion of its golden jubilee.
He said, "CPSP is about to complete its 50 years. The concluding ceremony of the golden jubilee year will be held in May, 2012 which will be attended by the Royal Colleges of UK, Canada, and Australia including many other royal colleges of the world."
Professor Chaudhry, who was accompanied with Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, Vice President, Professor Tariq Mahmood Khan, Vice President and Professor Syed Tipu Sultan, Convenor of Golden Jubilee celebrations, said that golden jubilee of the college would be celebrated at four provincial headquarters as well as in Karachi.
The joint golden jubilee ceremonies at Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta and Islamabad centers will be attended by the delegates of prestigious medical institutions from SAARC countries, whereas Royal College of London, Canada, Australia and other Royal Colleges in the world. An international medical conference will also be organised.
He said all 13 regional centers of CPSP are video linked and centers in Nepal and Saudi Arabia are well co-ordinated and working effectively. New centers are being set up in Gulf countries including Dubai and Kuwait. He said that the degree of CPSP is well recognised in the world due to its structured training and transparent examination system. The demand of CPSP fellows is increasing in Saudi Arabia as a result of MoU signed between the Saudi Deputy Health Minister and CPSP during his recent visit.
He said the CPSP would send specialist doctors to Saudi Arabia for a period of six months with an emolument of 50,000 Saudi Riyal per month including other fringe benefits. The first group of specialists comprising 30 doctors from all provinces of the country will leave for Saudi Arabia on 15th of May 2011.
