The Worldwide Fund for Nature Pakistan (WWF-Pak) is hosting the '11th Annual Travelling Nature Carnival' here on Sunday. The Nature Carnival is aimed at enhancing awareness about nature conservation among students and the general public through interactive games and competition.
The Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Imtiaz Inayat Elahi will be the Chief Guest of the event, which would start at 8:30am and end at 6 pm at F-9, Fatima Jinnah Park, Islamabad. WWF-Pak will host an array of activities including Art, Quiz and Essay Competitions, Interactive 3D Model making competition, Magic Shows, Environmental Puppet Shows, a Lucky Draw, live music, interactive games, activities, food stalls and an environmental theater.
Over 50 schools of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad are participating by constructing 3D models and giving live presentations at the venue. Hundred project stalls will be installed on various themes such as; Animals and plants of wetlands, on campus plantation, effects of water and air pollution on health, fresh water conservation, Energy Conservation and reduction of carbon footprint.
A number of companies have pledged their support by setting up promotional stalls at the nature carnival, which include 3 M, Rose Petal, Pell, Coke, Shezan and Unilever etc. The Travelling Nature Carnival is culmination of these joint environmental endeavours and the funds raised from the carnival will go for WWF - Pak's conservation projects. WWF - Pak has been working on environmental education for the past two decades and the travelling nature carnival is an integral part of its school outreach.
