The profit after tax of National Refinery Limited (NRL) has increased to Rs 1,709.985 million in the quarter ended March 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 813.166 million earned in the corresponding period in 2010. The board of directors of the company in its meeting held on Monday declared that the company's earning per share has increased to Rs 21.38 in the period under review against Rs 10.17 in the same period last year.
On nine months basis, the company's cumulative profit after tax increased to Rs 4.845 billion translating into earning per share of Rs 80.60 in the nine months period ended March 31, 2011 against Rs 1.966 billion with per share earning of Rs 24.60 in the same period a year back.
According to the financial results sent to Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE), the company's gross sales increased to Rs 45.740 billion in three months period ended March 31, 2011 against Rs 33.182 billion in the same period in 2010. The company paid Rs 6.951 billion in trade discounts, taxes, duties and levies in this period against Rs 6.442 billion paid in the same account in same period last year.
The company's net sales stood at Rs 38.789 billion in this quarter against Rs 26.740 billion. The company's cost of sales increased to Rs 36.234 billion against Rs 25.386 billion. The profit before taxation of NRL increased to Rs 2.603 billion in this quarter against Rs 1.278 billion in the same quarter last year.
