Capital Development Authority (CDA) has completed over 20 projects of Rainwater Harvesting Plan aimed at enriching the ground water in the federal capital to meet the challenge of water scarcity, said Imtiaz Inayat Elahi, Chairman CDA, here on Tuesday.
The CDA is in contact with Economic Affairs Division (EAD) to get appropriate financial support to finalise the upgradation plan of the existing water supply system and kick off the project of water supply to federal capital from Ghazi Barotha, the chairman said while addressing a delegation of under training officers of NIPA, Lahore who were briefed about the working of the civic body during their visit to the CDA Headquarters.
Elahi apprised the visiting under training officers that after taking initiative of Rainwater Harvesting Project, the CDA became first municipality, which successfully completed 20 projects of rainwater harvesting at various sites in the capital. The authority is taking concrete measures for provision of water and transportation to the residents of the city, he added.
Elahi said that CDA is focusing on planting the indigenous species of trees, especially fruit and flowering trees and strict monitoring of the planted saplings has been carried out to ensure their maximum survival. He said that the indigenous plants are environment friendly, which would not cause any allergy problems to the residents of the city.
He said that CDA has also intended to launch tourist bus service to facilitate the visitors to different parks and other worth visiting areas of the city. Despite the financial constrains work on all mega projects is continue and the projects would be completed soon, he added. Members of the delegation expressed their deep interest and asked many questions.
