To devise and discuss strategy to push the government to take up Senior Citizens Welfare Bill, Senior Citizens Foundation of Pakistan, DHA and Cantonment Chapter, Lahore, will hold its annual general meeting on April 17 (today).
According to a Foundation's spokesperson here on Saturday, the meeting would be held at Defence Community Centre in the morning. The Members besides the routine agenda of the annual general meeting will also discuss and deliberate on adopting a strategy to push and convince the government to take up the long overdue, pending and ignored Senior Citizens Welfare Bill.
The members in the meeting of the office bearers and the executive committee stressed upon the government to immediately get the bill approved for improving the plight of the elderly whose population stands at 10 million in Pakistan. They showed their surprise over the government's continued apathy towards the elderly in these very difficult economic times and continuously rising inflation. The meeting observed that the draft of the bill submitted to the concerned ministry in 2008-09, after obtaining necessary comments from the law ministry.
