Secretary Health Punjab Fawad Hassan Fawad has said the small hospitals in the remote areas are being upgraded to provide modern health facilities to the people at local level. He was presiding over a meeting to review on-going development programmes here on Saturday.
Special Secretary Health Wasim Mukhtar, Addl. Secretary Health Moazzam Usman, Addl. Secretary Technical, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Sulehria and the officers of Planning and Development Wing of the Health Department attended the meeting. The meeting was briefed that the Rural Health Center, Kalar Saidan was being upgraded into a Tehsil Headquarter Hospital comprising on 60 beds. This project is being completed at a cost of Rs 100 million, which would be functional during the current year.
By establishing THQ Hospital, Kalar Saidan, the services of specialist doctors of surgery, medicine, gynae, paediatric, orthopaedic surgery, radiology, pathology and ophthalmology would be available at local level and people do not go to Rawalpindi or Jehlum for their treatment. Moreover, the construction of 50 beds Hospital Talagang is also in the final phase. The meeting was briefed that a 40-beded THQ Hospital Talagang is already providing health facilities to the people and by setting up 50-bedded new hospital, the health facilities would be enhanced 100 percent.
