Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said here on Saturday that Afghanistan's reconciliation and reintegration efforts with its local factions and groups would lead to the emergence of a sustainable political setup. Talking to the Chairman of Afghan High Peace Council, Burhanuddin Rabbani, he said that Pakistan believes in pursuing harmonious co-operation with Afghanistan in all areas to ensure the region's peace and prosperity.
He appreciated Professor Rabbani for his efforts to bring stability to Afghanistan by taking on board all stakeholders within the country. Rabbani recalled his recent visit to Islamabad to seek support for Afghanistan's reconciliation efforts and transfer of security responsibilities to local authorities. Gilani said that his visit was aimed at reaching out to the Afghan public with a message that Pakistan is a well-wisher of Afghanistan and would continue supporting it to attain political stability through its own means.
