Chinese authorities have punished two men in Shanghai for spreading the rumour that nuclear radiation from Japan had arrived in the city, the Shanghai Daily newspaper reported Saturday.
One of the men posted a false microblog entry on Tuesday saying fallout from the stricken nuclear energy facility in Japan's Fukushima Prefecture had reached the city. The other man reposted the microblog entry, according to a report citing a spokesman for the city's public security bureau. The men's behaviour broke public security law, the spokesman said, adding that the two have received "administrative penalties" in punishment.
