The province of Sindh will be declared as "Earth Hour Province" (EHP) at a ceremony at Sindh secretariat on Saturday (today). Every year Earth Hour is celebrated all over the world on last Saturday of March at 8.30pm (local time) when masses switch off lights for one hour to show their concern and unity against global warming and climate change.
This year the day falls on March 26. The concept generally projects and leads towards conservation of natural resources and protection of environment. Environment and Alternate Energy Department, Government of Sindh in collaboration with WWF in Pakistan has planned series of activities to observe Earth Hour in order to create awareness among the masses in Sindh about this important event of global significance. This will depict joint efforts for the noble cause of sensitisation of people on environmental protection and energy conservation.
