Lawyers observed "black-day" here in the city and denounced the release of Raymond Davis, killer of two Pakistani citizens. Black flags were hoisted on bar premises and lawyers appeared in courts wearing black armbands. Addressing the general house meeting of Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), lawyers strongly flayed politicians, army and secret agencies and accused them of playing a dirty role for release of Raymond.
LHCBA's president Asghar Ali Gill, Secretary Arshad Malik Awan, Anwar Ghumman, Salman Mansoor, Rana Manzoor Hussain, Chaudhry Muhammad Khalid Mohal and Syed Nisar Safdar were among the speakers. They said the government could not cheat people as media, civil societies and lawyers were awakened now.
"The present rulers are not capable to represent the nation and protect the nuclear assets," they added. They said the rulers had no right to strike the deal between Raymond and victims heirs and added the laws of "Diyat and Qassas" could not be applied in Raymond case.
