Rallies condemn Davis' release: Sharifs are more dangerous than Zardari, says Imran

Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Friday alleged that Sharif brothers were more dangerous than President Zardari because of their 'dubious character.' Addressing a rally at Abpara Chowk against the release of Davis, Khan lashed out at the federal government and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led Punjab government for release of Raymond Davis, who had killed two Pakistanis in the broad daylight with illegal weapon.
The rally was also participated by local Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mian Mohammad Aslam along with a number of JI activists. Khan accused PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif of dubious role particularly on the issue of Davis, adding that they don't act as they say. "Sharif brothers are more dangerous than President Zardari," he further alleged, asking the masses to come out to streets for bringing change.
"Let's ask the rulers, where is the honour of the nation. Who sold it out?" asked Khan, adding that unless they fight against injustice and oppression, they will live like slaves and sheep.
"Those having their palaces and money abroad, have no right to rule the people and they can't represent the masses of Pakistan," he added. He said that both PPP and PML-N had miserably failed in providing justice to the masses. He strongly condemned the US drone attack in North Waziristan that killed over 40 tribal elders "We should have to decide now to come out on the streets as innocent people are being killed in US drone attacks," he maintained.
Mian Aslam, while addressing the rally, also alleged the rulers for selling out the country's sovereignty and also criticised the US for its 'double standard'. He urged all the political parties, civil society organisation and the masses to come out against the oppression and the injustices. He also strongly condemned the US drone attack in the North Waziristan and alleged the rules that they have sold the country's sovereignty.
The charged protesters, who, earlier, started the rally from Lal Masjid, gathered at Aapara Chowk, chanting anti-US and anti-government slogans. They were also holding placards inscribed with slogans against the US and the rulers.
Meanwhile, a number of other protest demonstrations were also held in the federal capital organised by various political parties and religious groups and their student wings. A protest organised by Islami Jamiat Talba, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, set ablaze US flags to express their anger. People's Students Federation (Sherpao Group) and Pakistan Aman Party also held separate protest demonstration against the release of Raymond Davis and criticised the rulers and the US.
Some angry protesters of civil society organizations, scuffled briefly with police as they tried to march toward Diplomatic Enclave, a high security zone where embassies of dozens of countries are located, including that of the United States. The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration has already declared high alert in the Capital to avert any untoward incident and dozens of police contingents have been deployed at various places.
